I had a manhattan next to Mrs. Rockoff in Chicago's O'Hare! She recommended looking up the cucumber manhattan named after her! Also, I'm a violinist entering a graduate program to get my masters in performance!

Talking to Sara IRL we got to this idea, which I'm writing here so I don't forget it:

It makes sense that Demetrius might get spooked - he's fifteen and just had a surprising encounter with whips and handcuffs. But Helena's fifteen too. She probably isn't as confident with that stuff as we have her in that video above. Good point, Sara!

Two things: 1) I love Greg Jukes. 2) I love carrying drums.

That's it for my break from Seafarer. Back to work!!

Very true! Hence the "Always Carry" formulation, instead of "always help build".

On our shows, Greg Jukes used to, when asked how we could help him with his drums, usually reply "get me a coffee" - Love that guy.

YES! Just....yes. The only exception to this rule is when there are mallet instruments, like marimbas and such, because of the potential for unintentional breakage by the untrained handler. Which is only to say, ask before touching. :)

Have a great show this weekend!!

Oh Kevin, no. I am a terrible litmus test for "everybody else." Don't let's go down that road.

However, we can put this topic on the agenda for drinks tomorrow and I will attempt to be more articulate.

Sara - yeah. Rose built most of the team that did this.

Let's speak much more about this! If we can get it to the point where you buy into it, I know everyone else will too.

Hear that, everyone else?

Watching these videos made me realize that we have more people in common - undoubtedly through Rose.

In re: your motivation for Demetrius...complicated. Complicated as in it's hard to write about why that seems to make not so much sense. On a superficial level it *does* make sense, but as a character analysis that would carry through in a full staging of the play, it seems to run up against some of the script; namely, that Demetrius and Helena have slept together before, and that Demetrius is implied to be something of a rogue.

I could go on, but I am sort of bubbling over with thoughts and have realized that I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this interpretation, and therefore lack context for why inserting this motivation makes sense.

Chance that I am over-thinking this because as an openly kinky person I find kink-squick motivations personally problematic: 1000%

Try living in a small town all your life. Everything is based on past ties, both direct and indirect, ("my brother went to school with your sister-in-law's mother, etc."), while business relationships are always fuzzing into friendships and vice versa. There's a primeval tribal satisfaction in this kind of constant connectedness, but the downside is that everyone knows everyone else's business and gossip is the slipstream in which one is irresistably immersed at all times. For instance, talking about other co-workers with my primary co-worker provides hours of smirkish smugnitude and I-know-what's-best for everybody, the result of which is that the time at work flies by. but this is also precisely the reason why many people move to big cities and glory in their liberating anonymity. "Burial of the Dead" by the way is poignant, bracing and picquant by turns--I really enjoyed its measured metamorphics.
