A lot of people have been coming finding this site while looking for information about the Anlgo-Saxon poem, The Seafarer. I set the first half of the poem (in Burton Raffel’s magical translation) for acting cello, and a film version of the piece is nearing completion. (I swear! color, titles, and we’re done. I promise.)
If you’re here looking for a voice recording of the whole poem in Anglo-Saxon, leave a comment or drop me an e-mail. If there are enough of you, I’ll see what I can do about getting one made. I love the poem, and having a recording of the original on the site would, I think, help place my version in context.
Let me know if you want that poem!
I think an audio recording would be wonderful
Heather Thompson of Caedmon Tutorials (caedmontutorials.com) found this link: http://www.wwnorton.com/college/english/nael/noa/audio.htm
WW Norton are officially wonderful, but you have to go way down the page to find Seafarer, and it’s in Real Audio only, so that’s no fun.
I think a recording would help online learners!
Thanks for commenting! I had a look and found this one on youtube – hope it helps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hIaEzZiArA
